Nigeria’s Burna Boy, Wizkid among 2021 Grammy Award winners

It’s joy for Nigerian Music industry as wizkid and Burna Boy on their first-ever Granny Awards.

Burna Boy took the Grammy Award for the Best World Music Album. In this category of award, the Nigerian did better than and British-Indian sitar player Anoushka Shankar, Tuareg desert rock group Tinariwen, Brazilian-American Bebel Gilberto and NYC afrobeat outfit Antibalas.

Burna Boy’s “African Giant”2020 Album also nominated for the 62 Grammy Awards lost to Angélique Kidjo for ‘Best World Music Album’.

Beyoncé’s “Brown Skin Girl” that featured Wizkid took home Grammy Award for best video category.

In his acceptance speech, Burna Boy said, “This a big win for my generation of Africans all over the world and this should be a lesson to every African out there, no matter where you are, no matter what you plan to do, you can achieve it because you are king.”
